A wide variety of books discuss Q Spirit founder Kittredge Cherry’s work as an LGBTQ minister, activist and author. This bibliography covers eight books that address her work in the context of history, theology and worship.
“When I began putting together a bibliography of books that discuss my work, I was happy to find such a broad spectrum of publishers, religious and secular, large and small, from both the United States and the United Kingdom, ranging from academic to mainstream. They were associated with both Catholic and Protestant traditions, including several different mainline denominations. It’s a true testament to my ecumenical experience and way of being,” Cherry said.
The eclectic mix of books and the diversity of traditions they represent speaks volumes about the far-reaching impact and ecumenical nature of her work.
The books cover almost three decades. The pace is speeding up, with the first book published in 1995, followed more than a decade later by books in 2011, 2015, 2020, and 2022, and then three more released in 2023-24. The list will be updated continuously as more books are published.
The bibliography was created in October 2024 as part of the birthday celebration for Kittredge Cherry and posted on Nov. 1. Her 2024 birthday wish: You are invited to donate to Q Spirit. Say happy birthday with a contribution and help promote LGBTQ spirituality!
