Q Spirit was highlighted recently on two important media outlets: a progressive comedy news show and an LGBTQ religious history website.

Q Spirit founder on “Some More News” show

Q Spirit founder Kittredge Cherry is praised as a progressive Christian faith leader (along with Martin Luther King and Dietrich Bonhoeffer!) on “How (And Why) The Right Stole Christianity.”  It is an episode of “Some More News,” a YouTube news and political satire show. Host Cody Johnston provides an entertaining take on the news every week. The episode has racked up 641,000 views since it was posted on April 24, 2024.

“There are many Christian leaders who use their faith as the crux of progressive movement,” Johnston says on the show. He names Jimmy Carter, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Chung Hyun Kyung, Martin Luther King Jr. — and the founder of Q Spirit. “Kittredge Cherry is a lesbian journalist turned priest who has promoted activism for feminist and LGBTQ causes since the 1980s,” he explains near the end of the program, at the 48-minute mark.

Jesus in Love blog on LGBTQ Religious Archives Network

A web page about the Jesus in Love blog, an earlier version of Q Spirit, was added to the Collections Catalog on the LGBTQ Religious Archives website in June 2024.

LGBTQ-RAN announced the new addition to their website by saying, “Jesus in Love Blog includes 320 captures from this 2008-2024 blog written by Kittredge Cherry on spirituality, sexuality and arts which is preserved at the Internet Archives.” Their new Jesus in Love page includes a detailed description of the blog’s content and purpose.

Initiated in 2001 as a project of the Chicago Theological Seminary, LGBTQ-RAN is an online archive that preserves history and encourages scholarly study of LGBTQ trailblazers of faith around the world. Its Collections Catalog features more than 450 primary source collections on LGBTQ religious groups or activists.
