and dwelt among us,
full of grace and truth.
May you and your loved ones have a beautiful Christmas in every way!
Creation of a new Christmas cartoon was prompted by a question from Q Spirit’s own Kittredge Cherry.
A lonely gay shepherd has a hard time believing that he is included when the Christmas angel announces “peace on earth and goodwill to all people” in the new cartoon by David Hayward, also known as nakedpastor.
He released the cartoon Dec. 20, 2018, with an announcement saying:
“My good friend Kittredge Cherry asked me today if I had any cartoons with gay shepherds. Not yet I said. But now I do!”
The Canadian artist uses gentle humor to open hearts, minds and church doors to LGBTQ people and others who have been excluded. He has a master’s degree in theology and 30 years of pastoral experience. This cartoon and many more are available at his Nakedpastor Etsy shop. His books include “The Art of Coming Out: Cartoons for the LGBTQ Community.” For more info, see the Q Spirit article “God loves LGBTQ people in cartoons by ‘Naked Pastor.’”

So was this like a scene in the movie Broke Back Mountain ??? Just wondering ???
Yes, I specifically brought up “Brokeback Mountain” when discussing this work with the artist, and he said that he wanted to convey the kind of loneliness experienced by the gay cowboys in that movie… plus the angelic message of hope for inclusion.
I am beginning to understand now the slings & arrows that gay people receive when other people including my sister finds out that my lifestyle deviates from what she expects. I guess I should have expected negative remarks from her.
