This year’s Christmas image is “God With Us, God With All” by Gustavo Daguerre of Argentina. The baby Jesus is surrounded by a diverse group, including a man in a shirt with the rainbow flag of the LGBTQ community. The happy crowd represents different sexual orientations, genders, races, ages and abilities.
They embody the true meaning of Christmas: Christ born as God in human form. One of the names for Jesus is Immanuel, which is Hebrew for “God with us.” Here the artist emphasizes that mean ALL of us.
In addition to being an artist, Daguerre is pastoral coordinator at a Catholic school in Buenos Aires. His illustration of Jesus and the Centurion appears in the Q Spirit article “Gay centurion: Jesus heals a soldier’s boyfriend in the Bible.” It shows the Centurion’s Biblical words in rainbow colors behind him and Christ. Daguerre shares his work on Facebook, Instagram and his website.
